Cautious Optimism

Shawn's surgery went well today. The doctor found more scar tissue than she anticipated and sent some of it off for a pathology report. In fact, they stopped in the middle of the surgery and didn't continue until the report came back. It came back negative. Our only concern right now is that these types of path reports aren't always accurate. With that in mind, she placed Titanium clips at the areas of concern. If the new path report comes back positive, they will zap those areas with boosted radiation. We are very optomistic!!! Shawn is in quite a bit of pain tonight, but the hard part is over! Once Shawn heals up, he will undergo three weeks of intense chemo, just as an added precaution. Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!!! Darryl

Surgery Today

We're all getting ready to leave the house for University Hospital. Shawn needs to be there at 6:00 AM, and surgery is at 7:30. Surgery should last 3-4 hours, and there will probably be 2 hours or so of recovery. I will be coming home for a little bit this afternoon, and then going back to the hospital. I will make a blog entry as soon as I get home. Thank you for your prayers. Love, Darryl

Please Continue Praying!

It is an exciting time right now, and a time to be thankful for the way things are going. Shawn is eating well, and his spirits seem to be high. Please continue to keep Shawn and Erin in your prayers, in that there are still difficult days ahead with the surgery on the 28th, and possible chemotherapy to follow. Thanks, Darryl

Shawn and Erin Close on House

Erin and Shawn closed on their house yesterday, and will begin painting today. They'll be moving tomorrow (Saturday). Those wanting to help can meet at the storage facility over on Hurstbourne and Watterson Trail at 9:30 AM. If you can only help load the truck there, that's fine. If you can make it to Shelbyville with us, that would be good to...thank you so much.

So Far, So Good

Shawn has been doing pretty well lately. He has been flirting with a fever the last couple of days, but it's been of the low-grade variety. He and Erin are so excited about moving into their new home on the 17th of this month. They have been busy picking out paint colors, and contemplating life after living with us. We are going to be so depressed when they leave!! It has been so nice having them around.

Shawn's Going Home!!!!

Don't ask me how it happened, but the doctor is sending Shawn home in a couple of hours. They're just waiting on the paper work to be done. He will have to go back once a day to get a shot in his stomach for his polyps, but that's it. You have no idea how excited he is!!! He was really feeling down the last couple of days in particular. Thank you so much for your prayers!!!! They had to have helped!! Darryl
